What is Hyperwallet's identity verification process, and why is it necessary?
Hyperwallet, a service offered by PayPal, facilitates swift, efficient, and transparent payment services across the global landscape.
To ensure adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations, Hyperwallet mandates certain teachers to verify their identity.
This procedure specifically applies to teachers situated within the European Economic Area (EEA). This encompasses European citizens and teachers currently residing within the EU.
Teachers will be prompted to undertake identity verification when the cumulative withdrawal amount reaches 2,500 EUR (3,000 USD) within a span of 365 days following their initial successful withdrawal.
For instance, if you are a European teacher who recently withdrew 1,000 EUR through the updated PayPal system, identity verification will only be required once your total withdrawals reach 2,500 EUR.
The verification process can take 1 - 3 business days for processing and will be evaluated by the PayPal Compliance team.
When identity verification is obligatory, all outgoing transfers from your account will be temporarily paused until the verification process concludes.
Required Documents for Verification:
The following documents may be requested to complete the verification:

Proof of identification, such as one of the following:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- Government ID card

Proof of address, such as one of the following:
- Bank or credit card statement
- Utility bill
- Government letter
Document Requirements:
- For all documents except passports, both the front and back sides must be submitted.
- The name on the document must exactly match the payee's name.
- Documents must be current and valid (expired documents are not accepted).
- All four corners of the document must be clearly visible.
- Documents must be submitted in color.
- Documents should be clear, readable, and of high quality.
- Document size: minimum 400KB – maximum 4MB
- Accepted formats: .pdf, .jpg, or .png
Proof of Address Document Validation:
- The name on the document must precisely match the payee's name.
- The address on the document must be an exact match with the payee's address.
- The document should not be more than 90 days old and must have a visible date.
- Documents should be clear, readable, and of high quality.
- Document size: minimum 30KB – maximum 4MB
- Accepted formats: .pdf, .jpg, or .png
Please be aware that if your documents fail to meet these stipulations, the verification process will not be successful.
